The Tyranny of the Majority

托克威爾在《論美國的民主》上卷第二部份第七章說：「我認為『人民的多數在管理國家方面有權決定一切』這句格言，是瀆神的和令人討厭的；但我又相信，一切權力的根源卻存在於多數的意志之中。我是不是自相矛盾呢？」（I hold it to be an impious and detestable maxim that, politically speaking, the people have a right to do anything; and yet I have asserted that all authority originates in the will of the majority.  Am I, then, in contradiction with myself?）您認為，他是不是矛盾的？
